Fifth and eighth grade teams showcased their salsa, swing, tango, foxtrot, rumba, merengue, and waltz at the all-school Colors of the Rainbow Team Match on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the InterContinental Minneapolis - St. Paul Airport Hotel.

The Colors of the Rainbow Team Match brought together hundreds of Dancing Classrooms students, families, and educators from around the state for a powerful, shared intergenerational experience of dance, music, personal growth, and community. The core values of the global Dancing Classrooms program were also on display at the Team Match – respect, elegance, and teamwork.

The Team Match is the final event of the Dancing Classrooms ten-week social-emotional learning residency. This semester, Heart of Dance served 1,118 students in 47 classrooms in the Twin Cities and Rochester.

Many thanks to our judges, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for making our Fall 2019 Colors of the Rainbow Team Match an amazing success!

Thanks to all the members of your organization for the wonderful event — the Colors of the Rainbow Team Match.

Our granddaughter participated in the the fifth grade match. I was struck by the joy the kids displayed while dancing. I was also struck by how the adults worked hard to make it celebratory and special. They showed such enthusiasm and respect for all the entrants. The audience caught the enthusiasm, clapping along to the music and cheering. I was worn out as I felt like I was part of the action. Not bad for a grandma!
